| NRA Applauds President Bush's Plan to Strengthen the Economy |
(Washington, DC) Applauding President Bush's efforts to jump-start the economy, the National Restaurant Association today announced its strong support of his jobs and economic growth package.
"We applaud President Bush for making this a top priority and recognizing that measures are needed to assist the country in these challenging economic times and encourage long-term growth," said Association President and Chief Executive Officer Steven C. Anderson. "Representing an industry that provides more jobs than any other private-sector employer in the country, we believe President Bush's plan will get our economy – both small businesses and employees – back on top.
"We hope that Congress will act swiftly on these tax relief measures to support the nation's restaurants and their 11.7 million employees in the days and weeks to come. The president's plan will help the nation's restaurants continue its essential role as the cornerstone of the economy, career and employment opportunities and community involvement," added Anderson.
The Association will continue to press Congress to quickly address legislation to help those hit hardest by the recession – particularly the travel and tourism industry – and boost our nation's economy.
