Matt Prentice, president & CEO of Unique Restaurant Corp., knows firsthand why the MRA chose Great Central Insurance as its endorsed business insurance provider. Below is a letter he wrote to Great Central in August after filing an insurance claim due to the recent power outage in Michigan.
Dear Mr. Donnelly,
I am normally not a "letter writer," just the same I am writing you about one of your adjusters - Perry French.
I am a new customer with Argonaut (Great Central). In my 23 years of business, I have never had a major insurance claim. The multi-state blackout changed that status. The fourteen sites I operate were all down at least 24 hours and some as many as 50 hours. My losses were sizable as you can imagine.
The only bright spot in our horrifying week was Perry. After we sent a package to you, he jumped right on the claim. Unfortunately, our phone systems were out on both Tuesday and Wednesday after the outage due to T-1 power surges. Perry, after trying us many times, contacted our agent to alert him to the problem.
My agent paged me and I contacted Perry directly from my cell. He worked diligently with us to get our claim processed. He told us that checks were cut until 1:30 p.m. on Friday and if we got him all of the information by noon, that he could ensure that checks were issued. On Saturday morning I had over $100,000 in checks delivered via FedEx.
Mr. Donnelly, I am Michigan's largest independent restaurateur. I have become the largest by exceeding my guests' expectations. While our service level is high, we are never content. Since my standards are high, I am usually disappointed by services I witness and rarely, if ever, am I "wowed."
Perry's attention to our claim was an overwhelming exhibition of service that so greatly exceeded my expectation that I had to write you and let you know.
Very truly yours,
Matt Prentice, President/CEO
