It used to be that if MRA members wanted to participate in the association’s annual golf outing, they had only one option – one day, one course, one location – and many would have a long drive to get there.
Not this year. In 2004, MRA members will have three different golf outings to choose from to help support the MRA PAC – in Grand Rapids, Frankenmuth and Gaylord. This way, most members will have at least one golf outing in their region of the state. If members want to sample more than one outstanding golf course, they will have the ability to participate in more than one outing – even all three if they choose!
The 2004 MRA PAC Tour starts in Grand Rapids at the West Michigan MRA PAC Golf Outing on Monday, June 21. Since the Thornapple Pointe was such a big hit with members last summer, the MRA is returning. A panoramic view of the breathtaking Thornapple River provides the backdrop for this expansive 220-acre, 18 hole course, featuring bent grass fairways and impeccably groomed tees and greens, and electronic scorekeeping and G.P.S. mapping on all carts. Winding along 7,000 feet of river frontage, you’re guided over gently rolling hills, through hardwood-lined fairways, and near three of the most enchanting, untouched wetlands found in the Midwest.
The tour then swings into Frankenmuth on Monday, July 19, for the East Michigan MRA PAC Golf Outing at The Fortress. The power of nature shaped into one of Michigan's most beautiful golf courses, The Fortress defends itself with its terrain, challenging bunkers and signature island hole. Situated just 435 yards from the front porch of world-famous Zehnder's in downtown Frankenmuth, The Fortress encompasses 6,813 yards of formidable play on an 18-hole, par 72 course.
Finally, the tour heads north on Monday, August 23, for the North Michigan MRA PAC Golf Outing in Gaylord at the Otsego Club’s Tribute Course. The Otsego Club Collection of Great Golf comprises of two uniquely challenging PGA championship courses designed by PGA Tour Professional, Gary Koch. The Tribute Course is an 1,100-acre tour of the majestic Sturgeon River Valley. The Tribute offers stunning 20-mile vista views from #3 and #4 tees, and the shear magnificence of the elevation changes, natural forestry and the flowing Sturgeon River Valley will take your breath away!
Why support the MRA PAC? In addition to it being a fun and easy way to do the right thing for the restaurant industry in Michigan, it’s also an election year. We need to financially support those lawmakers who value the importance of the restaurant industry.
There’s still space available for each of these outings, but they are filling up fast. Register today for yourself, or SAVE $$ by signing up one or more golf foursomes! In addition, you can contribute prizes to be given away at the event or promote your business by sponsoring a hole for $300. The fee for individual golfers is $175, while a foursome is only $600 – a $100 savings!
If you cannot participate in one of the golf outings, you can still support the MRA PAC by making a contribution of $50, $100 or $250 today. Better yet, join the leaders in the restaurant industry by becoming a member of Team 2004.
