Scholarship Program
Each Spring and Fall the Foundation awards financial aid to outstanding students from across the state through its educational assistance grant program. The purpose of the MRA Educational Support Foundation Scholarship is to encourage young people to pursue careers in the foodservice industry. Scholarship awards are based upon MRA member recommendation, letters of recommendation, academic standing, scholastic record, employment experience and financial need. Since 1991, we have provided 73 students with more than $53,000 in scholarship based financial aid.
Endowment Fund
Major donors have a choice in the direction of their financial commitment. One option is a direct contribution to the MRA ESF in support of ongoing training programs and financial assistance. However, many contributions are directed to the Endowment Fund. The annual interest earned on this
account is available for support of scholarship programs. Specific endowment commitments in the name of an individual or company can also be arranged.
Dues Check-Off
When you pay your dues as a member of the Michigan Restaurant Association, you are given the opportunity to make a contribution to the Educational Support Foundation. Contributions to the MRA ESF are tax-deductible. Proceeds go toward improvement of industry-related businesses through educational training, scholarships, and educational products.
Awards Banquet
An awards banquet is scheduled annually to recognize individuals who have excelled in the foodservice industry. Scholarship recipients, outstanding trainers and other individuals within the foodservice industry will be recognized for their achievements and accomplishments.
