Michigan Restaurant Show Features Seminars on Food Safety Issues
LANSING, MI – Restaurant operators, managers and food handlers will be able to listen to some of the most knowledgeable food safety experts provide insight into some of the latest food safety issues at the 2008 Michigan Restaurant Show.
The 2008 Michigan Restaurant Show will be held on October 14 and 15 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi. The Rock Financial Showplace is located on Grand River Avenue just east of Beck Road and south of Interstate 96. The Show is for industry professionals only.
On Tuesday, October 14, Jerry Wojtala of the Michigan Department of Agriculture will talk about some of the most important changes to Michigan’s food laws while Chris Zenner of Dave and Buster’s in Utica will talk about what industry is doing to adapt to these changes. Later on Tuesday, Frank Ferko from U.S. Foodservice will provide details on emerging threats to the safety of our food.
On Wednesday, attendees will learn all the do’s and don’ts of managing a food safety crisis, from the perspective of safety and sanitation but also in public communications and media relations from Maureen Franklin of the Wayne County Health Department and Michael Layne of Marx Layne Marketing and Public Relations. Finally, Becky Peterson of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, Jin Henry of the Livingston County Department of Public Health and Steve Loftis of Harbor Restaurants will lead a panel discussion on the challenges that all of us in the industry face, from the perspective of state regulators, local regulators and operators.
