Michigan Restaurant Association Elects Julie A. Doyle to Board of Directors

 

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) announced the election of a new member to its Board of Directors: Julie A. Doyle of Big Rapids.

“Julie Doyle is knowledgeable and is passionate about educating tomorrow’s leaders in the hospitality industry,” said Rob Gifford, president and chief executive officer of the MRA. “We are pleased that she has joined our Board of Directors.”

Gifford stated that the MRA Board of Directors is committed to assisting, representing, promoting and educating the foodservice industry.

Doyle is the Coordinator of Hospitality Programs and Associate Professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids. She has been employed at Ferris in various capacities since 1981. Doyle is a Certified Hospitality Educator, receiving this designation from the American Hotel and Motel Association’s Educational Institute. She is also a Master Certified Trainer for techniques in responsible alcohol service and has certified over 2,000 individuals. As an active member with the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association, Hotel Sales Marketing Association International, Kent County Lodging Association, Michigan Council of Hotel and Institutional Educators, and the Michigan Hospitality Educators Alliance Career Fair, she is a valuable asset to the hospitality industry. Prior to beginning her career at Ferris, she was a part of management teams in three Michigan restaurants.

She has been a member and leader in numerous public, private and non-profit sector associations, including the Mecosta Osceola Intermediate School District’s (ISD) Hospitality and Food Service Advisory Committee, and the Muskegon Area ISD Career Center Advisory Committee.

When she hasn’t been busy educating and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders in the industry, she has been busy in her community, volunteering her time and efforts with a diverse collection of organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, 4-H and St. Mary’s Parish in Big Rapids.

Julie has been married to her husband, Terry, who is also a professor at Ferris, for 28 years. They have two children, Jessica, 25, and Brendan, 18.
