MRA ALERT! Tell the Governor to Sign Sunday Morning Alcohol Sales, Spirits Catering into Law!
We are pleased to announce that, after several years of work, the Michigan Legislature recently approved a bill that achieves two key MRA priorities:
- The ability for liquor licensees to sell alcoholic beverages on Sunday mornings,
- The ability to sell and serve distilled spirits for off-site catered events.
The MRA Liquor Licensee Advisory Group (LLAG) had been directing this effort for the last several months.
This effort is far from over though! While there are many resasons why Gov. Jennifer Granholm should sign the bill, it is not at all given that she will. In fact, she has made numerous statements in recent days suggesting that she may veto it.
We need each of you to contact her office, tell them you support Sunday morning alcohol sales and catering permits for spirits catering, and urge her to sign into law Enrolled House Bill 6007.
Call Gov. Jennifer Granholm's office at 517.373.3400.
This call will take you 15 seconds! But the importance of the call cannot be overstated.
Have others in your establishments and your management teams make this call as well. It is critically important that she hear from you on these issues.
We're very close to achieving these goals! Get us over the finish line!
