Michigan Restaurant Show was a Huge Success!
LANSING, Mich. – The 2010 Michigan Restaurant Show, produced by the Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA), proved once again to be the event for suppliers to meet foodservice and hospitality industry decision-makers. The annual Show drew thousands of attendees to Novi’s Rock Financial Showplace. Optimism of an industry upswing was evident through orders written, leads generated, increased attendance and enhanced participation by the supplier community.
“Once again, the Michigan Restaurant Show was the place to be for anyone who owns, operates or has any kind of management role in the food and beverage service industry,” said Rob Gifford, MRA president and chief executive officer. “Whether you’re looking for new kitchen equipment, cost-saving solutions, or the latest and greatest in food and beverage service offerings, the annual Michigan Restaurant Show is something you must attend.”
This year’s Show kicked off with a keynote address from Carlton Curtis, vice president of industry affairs for the Foodservice and Hospitality Division of Coca-Cola North America and vice chair and trustee of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). He spoke about the NRAEF’s efforts to train and inspire the leaders of the industry of tomorrow. Seminars were offered for further insight on current trends and tactics for success in the foodservice industry, addressing such topics as “How Tweets Put Butts in Seats,” “Going Green-Saving Through Sustainability,” “Franchising Your Concept,” and “Managing Your Food Waste.”
Foodservice professionals from business and industry dining, healthcare and restaurants responded positively to the expanded all day exhibits on the Show floor. One of the biggest hits, was the all-new Michigan Marketplace, presented by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, where Michigan-made food products, paired with Michigan wines, beers and spirits were served to attendees. Coupled with a beer pavilion sponsored by the Michigan Brewer’s Guild, the Show offered attendees great flavor and menu ideas from the mitten state.
The increased exhibit space which featured everything from small wares to food groups, equipment manufacturers, beverage offerings and more made product selection a breeze. These increased offerings coupled with new products and special pricing offers made leaving the Show empty-handed impossible. Show floor seminars and cooking demonstrations, presented by Gordon Food Service were informative, exciting and had foodservice professionals heading to their establishments with positive energy and ideas.
“This year’s Show was a tremendous success,” said Gifford. “And it’s not too early to look ahead to next year’s Show, where we will build on our success and create an even more exciting and rewarding experience for attendees.”
