DINNER PLANNED IN HONOR OF MICHIGAN PROSTART® STUDENTS
Food Enthusiasts Invited to 2nd Annual “Dinner with the Champions”
LANSING, MI – Enjoy a gourmet three-course meal while helping support Michigan high school students in their quest for a career in culinary arts and hospitality at “Dinner with the Champions.” The Michigan Restaurant Association Educational Support Foundation (MRA ESF) is pleased to host this fundraising dinner on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Lexington Hotel in Lansing. Proceeds from this event help support the MRA ESF’s mission to prepare today’s high school students for the challenges of a career in restaurants and foodservice.
“Dinner with the Champions” is being held in honor of the Michigan ProStart Competition culinary and management team winners. The annual Michigan ProStart Competition was held in March and brought teams from across Michigan to Lansing to compete in four disciplines: culinary, management/ entrepreneurship, nutrition/marketing, and knowledge bowl.
Attendees at “Dinner with the Champions” will dine on Plymouth-Canton Educational Park’s (Canton) winning meal – a tribute to pork appetizer (pancetta, ham shank, and pork belly with apple, fig, beet, and celery), a vegetarian (served with optional lamb) multigrain risotto strudel for the entrée, and a pear mousse with hazelnut cake for dessert.
The fundraising dinner décor will be that of Branch Area Careers Center’s (Coldwater) winning management/entrepreneurship restaurant concept.
The two winning teams head to Baltimore, Maryland, to compete in the 12th Annual National ProStart® Invitational later this month. “Dinner with the Champions” helps support the trip to Nationals for these students.

ProStart is a two-year program for high school students that unites the classroom and industry to develop the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice leaders. In Michigan, 66 high schools and career centers use the ProStart curriculum with more than 4,900 students participating.
