“These two dynamic individuals have incredible insight and experience in the food and beverage service industry,” said MRA Executive Director Rob Gifford. “They both bring significant knowledge and dedication to our Board, and we are delighted to have them aboard.”

Janet Sossi Belcoure owns and manages Roma Café, Detroit’s oldest Italian restaurant.  She took over the business from her father in 2005 and has been involved in the business for 26 years.  A 25-year member of the MRA, Janet is involved in numerous community initiatives.  She is active on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Police Youth Organization and the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation and is involved with the Eastern Market Merchants Association in Detroit.

Ken Wasco of Jenison is a professional development specialist with Gordon Food Service, where he has worked for the last 18 years.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University, and holds masters degrees in management, health care administration, and communications.  Ken has a strong background in marketing, research and education.  He joins the MRA Board with rich experience in foodservice, working in various locations and capacities since 1976.

Gifford says both individuals possess outstanding qualities and bring many years of foodservice experience to the MRA Board.  “Janet Sossi Belcoure and Ken Wasco come to the Board ready and eager to continue our work promoting, representing and educating Michigan’s food and beverage industry,” said Gifford.  “Both are outstanding additions who will bring tremendous insight and energy to our Board.”
