MI RESTAURANT ASSN. ANNOUNCES BIG INSURANCE DIVIDEND RETURNS
LANSING, MI – Today, the Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) announced that member restaurateurs participating in the association’s endorsed property and casualty insurance programs in 2003 are going to be receiving a substantial dividend return.
The MRA and Great Central Insurance are informing program participants that they are receiving a total of $258,455 – an average of $2,825 per member – with individual checks ranging in size from $90 to $23,761.
Roland Marshall, a Burger King franchisee with multiple locations said: “The MRA does it again! They found a quality provider that has outstanding service and I’m getting back a portion of my premium.”
The MRA introduced Great Central Insurance as a new partner with the association at the beginning of 2003, recognizing the need for its members to manage their premium costs. Great Central is an “A” rated carrier that has an established reputation working with the restaurant industry since 1934. The MRA-Great Central program allows for great rates up front and adds a free bundle package including accounts receivable, arson, seasonal increases, water back up of sewer and drain coverage.
Dean Parker, Marketing Director for Great Central Insurance, said: “The program has succeeded because everyone involved has understood the importance of working together. I believe the future has the potential of being even better.”
The MRA works with agencies that specialize in the restaurant industry. They understand the industry and what programs and products will benefit their clients and save them money.

Harney is the agent for John Metzger of Metzger’s German Restaurant in Ann Arbor. “My family has been a member of the MRA since 1955,” said Metzger. “We participate in several of the MRA benefit programs including the workers’ compensation fund, which has saved us a ton of money. So when my agent told me about the dividend potential with Great Central I knew the MRA found another way for me to save money.”
