MICHIGAN RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF DICK DEVOS FOR GOVERNOR
LANSING, MI – The Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) today announced that gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos has received the group’s endorsement for governor. The MRA Board of Directors voted to endorse Mr. DeVos at their summer meeting in Petoskey.
“We are proud to support Dick DeVos for governor because he has amply demonstrated his support for Michigan restaurateurs, small business and free enterprise,” said Matt Durack of Lake Orion, chairman of the MRA political action committee. “After examining both candidates for governor, it became clear that Mr. DeVos understands business and knows what needs to be done to get Michigan in line with the rest of the country and get our economy back on track.”
According to Durack, Mr. DeVos has experience in the hospitality industry and that gives him a better understanding of the restaurant business. “Dick DeVos, whose company operates restaurants in Grand Rapids, understands our issues, our concerns and our needs. That will be invaluable to him as he makes key decisions to benefit our economy.”
Founded in 1921, the Michigan Restaurant Association represents more than 4,500 Michigan foodservice establishments. The foodservice industry plays an integral role in Michigan’s economy, employing more than 436,000 people and creating more than $11.3 billion in total annual sales.
