MRA announces big P&C insurance savings

If we’re beginning to sound like a broken record, then forgive us.  But it’s sure nice to report that our endorsed property and casualty insurance program is returning money to our members – again!  And this time, the returns are to the tune of $265,824.

Once again, the Michigan Restaurant Association and Great Central Insurance are pleased to report that the latest returns have hit a new mark.  The fourth quarter for 2004 is the largest return amount for one quarter that has been released to date.

This month, 91 of our members will receive a check from Great Central.

In total, Great Central has returned $709,786 to members who are participating in the endorsed program.  A dividend has been returned six out of the possible eight quarters since the program has started.  The dividend return is calculated by both the group and individual losses that have been incurred.  Individual checks sent to members range from $69.00 to $63,678!

The MRA has partnered with Great Central since 2003.  “We were confident right from the start that Great Central had the best coverages available with the expertise to underwrite our members in a way that ensured a dividend program would be successful,” said Rob Gifford, executive director for the Michigan Restaurant Association.

Great Central is an “A” rated carrier that has an established reputation in the restaurant industry since 1934.  The joint MRA-Great Central program allows for great rates up front along with a free bundle package that includes: accounts receivable, arson, seasonal increases, and water back up of sewer and drain coverages.  This package would cost a non-member $525.

Dean Parker, marketing director for Great Central Insurance, has worked with the MRA since the beginning to create a quality program to benefit members.  “The results are an indication of the effectiveness of the MRA and their ability to bring everyone together in a program that can benefit members, preferred agents and Great Central,” he said.  “We now have proof that the program works.  Through this continued success, I believe the program’s future has the potential to be ever better.”

Great Central works with preferred agents across the state who specialize in the restaurant industry and have access to write all of the MRA’s endorsed insurance programs.  The MRA is not only committed to finding the best possible insurance coverages at the most affordable rates but also working with agents who know and understand the restaurant industry.

“The package the MRA and Great Central have put together is the best available product for my clients,” says agent Jason Harney, of Regency Group Insurance.  “I work with MRA members who can be confident they have the coverages necessary at the best rates available.  And now they are receiving thousands of dollars back.”

Marcia Wagner, of the Grill House in Allegan, is amazed.  “As an independent restaurant owner, it is very important for me to watch every penny.  Working with the MRA and the insurance programs they offer not only saves me money up front but allows me to receive thousands of dollars back in unused premiums.”
