2006 Michigan Restaurant Show to Feature

4-hour ServSafe Alcohol™ Service Class and Exam

LANSING, MI – There are plenty of reasons why the upcoming 2006 Michigan Restaurant Show will be the place to be for restaurant owners, managers and professionals.  We have already shared exciting news about the many 30-minute mini-seminars available.

Another great reason is that on the second day of the 2006 Michigan Restaurant Show, October 18, from 8am to 12 noon, there will be a four-hour ServSafe Alcohol™ class and exam.  The ServSafe Alcohol™ program outlines effective responsible alcohol service practices for all front-of-the-house staff, including bartenders, waiters, hosts, busers, security and valets.  State law requires liquor-licensed establishments be certified in an approved alcohol service training program, such as ServSafe Alcohol™.

In the session, participants will learn about alcohol service laws and operator responsibilities, recognizing and preventing intoxication, checking identification, and handling difficult situations.  A wallet card approved by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission will be given to all persons who pass the exam with a score of 75 percent or higher.

The 2006 Michigan Restaurant Show will be held on October 17 and 18 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi.  The Rock Financial Showplace is located on Grand River Avenue just east of Beck Road and south of Interstate 96.
