What do others say about the MRA’s influence in the Capitol?
WJIM-AM radio in Lansing has referred to the MRA as “the very powerful restaurant lobbying group”
for our ability to advance the legislative agenda of our members while
also putting a heavy thumb on those ideas that would have a negative
impact on our industry.
The Marquette Mining Journal called the MRA “a power trade organization and lobby representing thousands of Michigan businesses.” The Lansing State Journal echoed the sentiment and called the MRA one of the “powerful players” in the Lansing lobbying scene.
Michigan Information and Research Service
(MIRS) – a daily news publication covering the Capitol scene in Lansing
– provided more proof of the MRA’s influence, publishing the results of
a poll of persons who work in and around state government and politics,
including elected officials, department directors, and top staff.
MRA’s lobbyists ranked among the very most effective among the
thousands of registered lobbyists in the entire Capitol community in
the May 2007 poll.
We have been very successful in enacting
positive public policy changes, we continue to work hard against those
that would harm our industry, and we are always pushing to get our
unresolved agenda items to the forefront.
