MRA Elects Officers for 2008, Jim Eggl to Lead the MRA
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) today announced the election of its 2008 officers to lead the organization, which represents more than 4,500 Michigan food and beverage service establishments.
Jim Eggl was elected to serve as chairman of the Board of Directors; Bob Fish was elected to serve as vice chairman; and Matt Durack was elected to serve as treasurer.
Jim Eggl, a resident of Birmingham, owns and operates two well-known and acclaimed restaurants in downtown Milford: Hector and Jimmy’s restaurant and bar, and Gravity Bar and Grill, a more recent addition to Milford’s fine dining scene.
“I am ready to represent, promote and lead Michigan’s restaurant industry in 2008,” Eggl said. “At the Michigan Restaurant Association, our mission is the success of our members, and I appreciate the trust and confidence the members have placed in me.”
Fish, the new vice chairman for the association, co-founded East Lansing-based Biggby Gourmet Coffee, formerly known as Beaner’s, and Global Orange Development LLC, the franchisor for the Biggby brand.
Durack is president of Cregar Enterprises, an executive food services management firm based in Lake Orion that focuses in exceptional quality and upscale presentation.
“In Michigan’s continually struggling economy, owning and operating a successful restaurant is a daily challenge,” said Rob Gifford, president and chief executive officer for the MRA. “With this dynamic group of individuals leading the association, the MRA will continue to represent and fight for the best interests of Michigan restaurateurs – whether by offering reduced insurance rates for members or by making our voice heard on local and state issues.”
Founded in 1921, the Michigan Restaurant Association represents more than 4,500 Michigan foodservice establishments. The foodservice industry plays an integral role in Michigan’s economy, employing more than 436,000 people and creating more than $11.3 billion in total annual sales.
