Michigan Restaurant Association Elects Local Businessman To Board Of Directors
DETROIT - Larry Brown, vice president and general manager of Michaels & Associates a foodservice sales and marketing company with offices in Detroit and Grand Rapids has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Restaurant Association. Brown was elected from a statewide field of restaurant industry candidates at the association's annual board meeting earlier this summer.
"I hope to offer additional insight and support to the food and hospitality industry while promoting a growing membership base," Brown explained as some of his goals in joining the board.
Brown brings 35 years experience in the hospitality industry, and began his career with former MRA President Don Payne of Family Buggy Restaurants. Having worked in virtually every aspect of the foodservice business, Brown has held management positions with several hotel/restaurant properties, two foodservice distribution companies, and joined Michaels & Associates in 1988 as a Branch Manager. In addition to his involvement with the MRA, Brown is an active member of the International Food Service Executives Association, the Association of Sales and Marketing Companies, the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and the University of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor.
The MRA represents more than 3,500 locations statewide. With more than 291,000 employees, more people work in the restaurant industry than any other industry in Michigan. Since 1921, the MRA has served to enhance and nurture the growth and development of Michigan's hospitality industry.
