National Restaurant Association honors Clint Eastwood
(Carmel Valley, CA) National Restaurant Association President and Chief Executive Officer Steven C. Anderson announced the Association will honor actor Clint Eastwood with an award commending his advocacy of sound public policy on behalf of the restaurant industry. The presentation will take place Saturday, March 10 at a dinner to be held at the Tehama Golf Course in Carmel Valley, Ca. The dinner is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation as part of its annual Golf and Leadership Classic.
"We are appreciative of all Mr. Eastwood has done to raise the awareness of key issues vital to the strength of the restaurant industry. In particular, he assisted us significantly by strongly supporting a measure by Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) to ensure restaurants and other places of public accommodation are first notified about an alleged ADA violation before presented with a lawsuit. We are honored to present this award to him," said Anderson.
"The NRA Educational Foundation's Golf and Leadership Classic is an excellent venue for us to raise funds for our Scholarships and Mentoring Initiative. We welcome Mr. Eastwood and his wife to our dinner," said A. Reed Hayes, president and chief operating officer of the NRA Educational Foundation.
Other dignitaries who will attend the dinner in honor of Clint Eastwood include: Congressman Sam Farr (D-Ca) and his wife Shari Farr; County Supervisor Sam Karas and his wife Edie; and Monterey City Councilman Dave Potter and his wife Pat.
Nearly 100 restaurant and foodservice industry professionals and guests are attending the NRA Educational Foundation's 2001 9th Annual Golf and Leadership Classic March 8-10 in Pebble Beach, Ca.
Aside from playing on some of the world's most highly respected courses - The Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Pebble Beach Golf Links - attendees have a chance to network while raising money for the NRA Educational Foundation's Scholarships and Mentoring Initiative. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $1 million for educational programs and scholarships for the restaurant and foodservice industry.
