The Walled Lake Downtown Authority (DDA) has announced the opening of The Oasis, an authentic Middle Eastern restaurant, located at 1186 E. West Maple Road in the Maple Plaza Shopping Center.

The grand opening was celebrated on Tuesday, March 6, with a ribbon cutting ceremony with city officials as well as Arabic music and cultural entertainment. In addition to a contribution from the restaurant, 10 percent of the proceeds that night along with all tips were donated to HAVEN.

Owned by Sam Saleh and Chef Mike Hassim, The Oasis will present properly prepared cuisine offered in a traditional manner, featuring hot pita bread baked in a special oven that will be served with such favorites as hummus, taboulee, baked kafta, chicken shwarma, shish kabob, lamb and vegetarian dishes. Its house specialties will include fresh raw juices and smoothies. The Oasis will be open daily for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and can be reached by calling (248) 669-8240.
