Auction - Soup Kitchen Saloon

Source: Detroit News
The Soup Kitchen Saloon, which built a national reputation as Detroit's Home of the Blues, will go on the auction block this week. Owner Brian McDonald says he will have everything up for sale, including photos of blues artists, bar equipment and even its name and liquor license. McDonald ran the Soup Kitchen for 25 years but closed it in 1999 when the city began negotiations to buy land in the rivertown area for casinos. The Soup Kitchen, at the corner of Franklin and Orleans, is part of the proposed site for a MGM Grand casino. The auction will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Call (800) 300-3650.
