Industry report: Compaq putting Starbucks online

Compaq Computer Corp. and Starbucks Coffee Co. announced a five-year, $100-million deal Tuesday in which Compaq will equip the coffee shops to give customers wireless Internet access they can use while they sip their lattes.

Compaq said it's supplying Starbucks with iPAQ handheld computers and other equipment for high-speed wireless Internet access in its North American stores.
