Sault Ste. Marie - With the 8th edition of the Michigan Guide to Smoke-free Dining going to print, restaurants in the city of Sault Ste. Marie continue to be added to this listing. The La Senorita is one of the most recently identified food service establishments joining the growing number of smoke-free restaurants across the state.
Restaurant manager, Dennis Kenville relocated to the Sault Ste. Marie establishment in September 2000 from Petoskey. It was at this time that Kenville made a managerial decision to provide smoke-free dining in the restaurant. “The Petoskey La Senorita already had the smoke-free policy in place during the 3 _ years I served as manager. When I transferred to the establishment in Sault Ste. Marie, , I knew we needed to develop this type of policy here. It definitely is the trend.” Public response to the new policy has been positive.
The Michigan Guide to Smoke-free dining will be available for distribution in May with a listing of over 3000 smoke-free restaurants. Great progress has been made since the first copy was published with 172 entries in 1994.
