Restaurant sports new look

Source: Milan News
MILAN - George and Laurie Koukoumtzis, owners of the Dug Out Sports Bar and Campfire Restaurant, marked the grand opening of the new and improved bar with its new manager, Roxanne Schneider.

George opened the eatery more than 23 years ago, but it bears little resemblance to the original restaurant and tavern. The Dug Out Sports Bar is now where the banquet facility used to bo, and boasts a huge, well-appointed, tastefully decorated dining room with no less than 12 televisions, a wide screen t.v., a dart board and a pool table.

“We have satellite t.v. so the customers can see just about any sport they would like,” said Schneider. “Everything is new, even our menu.”

As is the chef, newly hired Bradley Durr, who said he has been a chef for more than 27 years in Las Vegas and Detroit cooking everything from fine French cuisine to short order meals.

“But after my recording gig with MTV fell through, I figured this was a great opportunity for me,” he says with a grin.

Seriously, Durr said he has big plans for the menu at The Dug Out.

“We offer the finest steaks around and will soon introduce a prime rib and seafood buffet and special tastes from around the world. I hope to have certain nights set aside for Creole cuisine, Asian Pacific, German, and more. We have fajitas and sandwiches. It’s an exciting menu.”

The menu is complemented by the eight varieties of draft beer, both domestic and imported.

The new look of the bar includes more space - twice the spac, in fact. There is more room to sit and a wonderful atmosphere to share with friends and family.

The area which was once the bar will be converted into banquet rooms.

The Koukoumtzis has plans to upgrade the Campfire in the near future, too, converting it into two separate spaces for dining, one for smokers and one for non-smokers.

“We wanted to give Milan residents and those visiting the area an upscaleplace to dine and have fun,” said Laurie. “I think we have succeeded here with the Dug Out.”
