Workers Compensation
The MRA successfully defended a well-functioning and efficient system of handling state workers' compensation appeals from an attack by labor unions and trial lawyers. The atack would have taken a system that takes a few months to handle an appeal and replaced it with one that lasts up to five years.
Drunk Driving The MRA successfully defeated efforts to impose a new .05 BAC impairment standard in the 2003 drunk driving changes. Such a low standard would have criminalized responsible social alcohol consumption and devastated beverage sales in restaurants.
