Student Admission Policies

Background:
The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Show is a wonderful business opportunity for those in the hospitality industry.  This event is also a unique opportunity for students of the industry to be exposed to a part of the industry that the classroom has a hard time duplicating.  We have created a Student Admission Policy that helps create a professional atmosphere where today's business can be done in front of tomorrow's business leaders.  Compliance with these rules will ensure that our valued hospitality students will continue to be exposed to this unique opportunity.

ALL NEW RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED

New Rules:

  • No one under the age of 17 will be allowed on the Show floor. Photo I.D. is required.
  • Business/professional dress code is required. Students dressed inappropriately will not be allowed on the Show floor. Show staff have complete discretion to determine appropriateness of dress.
  • A ratio of 1 adult per 10 students will be required.
  • All students must stay with the respective adult chaperone throughout their entire time on the Show floor. Students found without their chaperone will be asked to leave.
  • Name tags will be ready in advance and will clearly identify attendees as "students."
  • Time slots will be assigned to each school. Each time slot will consist of two hour increments. Only 30 students will be allowed on the Show floor at any given time. Time slots are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Please preregister.
  • Students will not be allowed to take exhibitor "give away" products or samples from the Show floor. Each adult chaperon may take one give-away product or sample from each exhibitor. Students found with samples will be asked to leave (without the samples!)
  • No inappropriate behavior will be tolerated.
Types of behavior that would be considered inappropriate:
  • Underage drinking
  • Foul language
  • Running on Show floor
  • Horseplay and/or unruly behavior
Admission cost:
FREE ADMISSION TO ALL STUDENTS AND CHAPERONES
