MRA Educational Support Foundation:
Advancing the Foodservice Industry

MRA is dedicated to protecting and enhancing opportunities for individuals in advancing the foodservice industry. MRA also offers opportunites and educational programs to ensure your business has a well-trained, knowledgeable staff, a critical element to the success of today's foodservice operator.

Culinary Art Salon
Each spring, the Michigan Restaurant Association's Educational Support Foundation, in cooperation with the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association, sponsors and produces a Culinary Art Salon. This event is recognized as one of the very best Salons in the country.

This competition hosts a variety of participants ranging from high school students, college students, apprentice chefs, and professional chefs. Participants are graded on presentation, composition, preparation, and serving. Awards are given in each category for Best of Show, Judge's Special, Best Pastry as well as gold, silver and bronze medals.

School to Work Program
The Michigan Restaurant Association's Educational Support Foundation has formed a partnership with the Michigan Jobs Commission in development of a School-To-Work Program targeting "at risk" students. This program will provide positive thinking professionals who can train and influence individuals who qualify for entry. We are seeking leaders who are willing to provide a positive role model and are willing to train those whom might otherwise not have a positive employment training experience. We secure employers who are willing to invest time training young people who have been classified as disabled or "at risk." This is an exciting school-to-work program for tomorrow's workers.
