2001-2002 MRA Legislative Accomplishments

Liquor Sampling
Permits liquor licensees to allow their employees, age 21 and above, to sample alcoholic beverages during legal hours of operation for educational purposes.
Public Act 46 of 2001

Labor Day Holiday
This bill permanently creates a four-day Labor Day Holiday by prohibiting public schools and school academies from holding classes on the Friday before Labor Day.
Public Act 167 of 2001

Online Liquor Ordering
Requires the Liquor Control Commission to establish an integrated online system for ordering spirits from ADAs. The language specifies that the system should allow licensees to go to one web site location to order all brands and types of spirits.Public Act 274 of 2001

Franchise SBT Deduction
Restores a SBT deduction that was eliminated in 1998 as a result of a Court ruling. Under the law, franchisees are once again permitted to deduct all franchise fees and royalty payments made to franchisors from the franchisee's Single Business Tax base.Public Act 230 of 2001
